My hob is not working (induction hobs with a U symbol)

If you have a cooker with an induction hob, you will need to use induction compatible pans for it to work. Induction hobs create heat through magnetic currents. Without a magnetic material, heat will not be able to transfer from the hob to the pan effectively.

Suitable pans can often be identified with the induction symbol (please see image below). You can also test compatibility by using a magnet on the bottom of the saucepan - if it clings onto it, then it should work with an induction hob. In addition to this, always make sure the whole of the heating surface is covered by the pan. To find out more about how induction hobs work, please read our dedicated FAQ.

If you are using compatible pans for your induction hob, but the appliance is still not working, it may be that the child lock is activated. To deactivate the child lock, touch and hold the cleaning lock key and the stop and go key simultaneously until two signal sounds are heard. For more information, please refer to your instruction manual. If you have misplaced your manual, don't worry you can download your appliance manual here.
