Frequently Asked Questions HarvestFresh™ Fridge Freezers

HarvestFresh™ technology uses a three-colour light system inside the fridge freezer's crisper drawer to replicate the natural 24-hour cycle of the sun.

The light sequence works as follows:

  • Blue light simulates sunrise, when photosynthesis begins
  • Green light represents midday sunlight, when light intensity is strongest
  • Red light simulates sunset, helping to maintain photosynthesis into the evening

By mimicking natural daylight patterns, HarvestFresh™ helps preserve the vitamins found in fruit and vegetables for longer*, keeping them fresher inside the fridge freezer.

No. HarvestFresh™ technology is exclusively developed by Beko and is only available on selected Beko fridges and fridge freezers.

A Beko HarvestFresh™ fridge freezer is designed to last between 10 and 15 years when purchased new, making it a long-term investment for your kitchen.

Regular cleaning, avoiding overloading the appliance, and carrying out routine maintenance can help extend its lifespan.

HarvestFresh™ technology does not detect the actual time of day.

Instead, fridge freezers with HarvestFresh™ use an internal 24-hour timer that automatically controls the lighting cycle on a continuous daily loop:

  • Blue light for 4 hours
  • Green light for 2 hours
  • Red light for 6 hours
  • Darkness for 12 hours

This cycle runs automatically and is not affected by how often the fridge freezer door is opened or closed.

For convenience, if you open the refrigerator door during the dark period, the appliance will automatically detect this and briefly illuminate the crisper with blue, green, or red light so you can see inside. Once the door is closed, the dark phase resumes, continuing to represent night-time in the 24-hour cycle.

*Tested by Intertek. Based on Vitamin C and Vitamin A measurements in tomatoes, green peppers, carrots, spinach and celery directly exposed to the light technology compared with Day 0 conditions over a 5-day period.
