Cleaning. A Dirty Word For Brits?

Cleaning. A Dirty Word For Brits?

How often do you clean your home? Most of us have a love-hate relationship with housework. We’re always thinking up ways to make home life easier, and with smart tech popping up everywhere, we wanted to find out more about the changing face of cleaning. So, we asked 2,000 Brits what they thought, and now we’re asking you, so what do you reckon? Are you too busy to clean?

Millions of adults claim they’re ‘too busy’ for cleaning and housework, according to our new research[1]

The demands of modern life, such as balancing working hours with looking after children, results in a third of adults struggling to find time to take care of their home. Only half of the 2,000 adults who took part in our poll, set aside time each week to clean their home and three in 10 only find time for housework on the weekends, with 40 per cent blaming a busy work life

Are you planning a Spring Clean this month? Lots of you said that the seasonal practise of spring cleaning is an old-fashioned tradition that’s phasing out. Do you remember your parents and grandparents houses being sparkling clean? Almost half of the people who took part in our poll thought previous generations had more time for household chores.

With such busy modern lives housework isn’t a priority for many of us anymore.  Whilst we all like to be house-proud, it’s difficult to find the time. Our new research shows that time saving is an important issue, especially with people working longer hours than in the past and enjoying busy social lives. As a result, traditional housework is taking a back seat. Thankfully, modern technology is helping us to save time in all aspects of our daily life, including cleaning.

The introduction of new appliances such as our AutoDose Connected dishwasher means for up to a month you don’t have to find a tablet and pop it in your machine. Instead you can feel re-assured that your load is getting the right level of detergent every time.

Being able to control devices remotely means families can multitask and hopefully feel less pressure and guilt about getting tasks done and sacrificing important family time. In fact, one in five said being able to control appliances via their smartphone remotely is a huge time saver, showing how the modern world is adapting to fit around busy lives.

Thirty-six per cent of Brits said the development in tech has helped them save time and have used the likes of a self-cleaning oven, self-cleaning litter boxes for pets and steam cleaners replacing the traditional mop. A further 40 per cent said the dishwasher saves them the most time and rely on it four times a week, whilst one in 10 have even used a smart speaker such as the Amazon Echo to save time.

Innovative appliances such as our new time-saving AutoDose Connected dishwasher make dishwashing even more effortless - simply fill the detergent container and the right amount will be dispensed wash after wash, for up to one month. Additionally, and with every cycle, people can easily control and monitor their appliance from their smartphone, as well as from any Alexa-enabled device.

So, don’t despair, smart-technology is here to save the day and keep your home sparkling!
